Fingertips that once caressed my soul
Breath that seduced my heart
Cold in the fires that now burn
Crimson and black to the core
Charred remains of our smiles
Demands instead, unreasonable and unmet
Hold us prisoner against the other
Cold are the nights
Long are the days
The water washes over my feet
Endless tears splash to meet me
What’s beyond here, without you?
Purpose lost, lights burned out
Only darkness upon my dreams
Love I thought I once knew
Only a game we once played
Upon the strings of a plated harp
Tarnished over the years
Forgotten and put far away
As my soul, my heart, your breath.
